Understanding point rummy

In point rummy game of 13 cards, the points are pre-defined for every card, and these have an exact rupee value. The winner gets announced when each deal ends. Rules:

• Every game is a single deal with a pre-decided value given to cards.
• The winning hand needs to have at least one pure sequence without the joker and another sequence without or with the joker.
• The player who wins the round gets zero points and every other player gets the points for the cards that they have been unable to get into valid sets or sequences.

Scoring:

The first player who finishes after meeting the objective of the game is considered a winner, and that person gets zero points. If one or more people drop the game in or after the first move, they get twenty points or forty points each respectively, and the game goes on until a winner comes up. Points might also be given as a penalty if a player declares without checking if the game objectives are met.

Understanding pool rummy

All the players at the table combine (pool) money when they take their seats at the table for playing the game. The aim is to get zero points because points have negative value. When the game or deal is done, the one who has zero points is declared as the winner. The others who lose get points as per the cards they have in their hands.

The players whose points reach 101 or 201, i.e. the maximum points, are considered eliminated from this rummy game. One by one all the players get eliminated, and only one person remains and that player is the winner. The one with the lowest score at the end of the game is declared as the winner.

Rules:

• The winning hand needs to have at least one pure sequence without the joker and another sequence without or with the joker.
• All cards can be grouped into sets of three cards or four cards. The players can also make straight sequences using the rest of the cards.
• The winner of a round gets zero points, while all the other players get points for the cards that they couldn’t group into proper sets or sequences.
• Points get calculated at the end of every deal after the winner gets declared. The players whose points reach 101 or 201, or the maximum points as per the group’s decision, are considered eliminated.
• The player who left the game earlier, might come back into it if no other player in the specific game gets more than seventy-nine points.
